The Tears of St Lawrence

Post by ADMIN » Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:04 am

Every year, stargazers look up to the skies in August to witness the annual Perseids meteor showers.

Because the meteor showers occur on or about the 10th of August, the feast day of St Lawrence, the meteor shower is often referred to as "The Tears of St Lawrence" as the streaks of fire across the sky resembled the sparks of fire from the gridiron.

Why not organise a display related specifically to the Perseids meteor shower, or a display about Space in general?

Even better, organise a star-gazing night for people to watch the meteor showers from your churchyard!
